America's Freedom
is indebted to James Lafayette whose role as a spy was vital to their victory of the Revolutionary War. During this time, slaves could fight to earn their freedom. Although James was the integral part in winning the war, he was not granted his freedom for 2 years because they had given him the important and risky role as a spy for them instead of being a "soldier".
The General, Lafayette, wrote a letter about his valiant efforts as a spy, to help James get his freedom, but it still took 3 more years for him to gain his freedom in 1787. James took on the last name of Lafayette for his help getting him his freedom. This Civil War was from 1861-1865, but it wasn't until June 19, 1865 that all slaves officially learned of President Lincoln's Emancipation Proclamation for their freedom to finally be enforced in Texas.

Special thanks to the many more key figures that make up our American History!!!
Be a life-long learner and keep reading, studying, and sharing, so we can make the efforts of the ones that struggled and fought so bravely before us are never forgotten and are responsible for us to be able to enjoy and live in this country!!!
